Ashley.com Standard Shipping items have 30 days from delivery for eligible returns. Online White Glove and Doorstep items cannot be returned for a change of mind; damage or defects must be reported within three business days. Store purchases follow that store’s terms. Online items cannot be returned in stores, and return transport charges may apply.
How to start a return
In a store
- For a store purchase, read the terms provided by that store.
- Contact the original selling location using your receipt or the official locator.
- Do not take an Ashley.com purchase to a store; online returns use Guest Experience.
Online or by mail
- Identify Standard Shipping, White Glove or Doorstep Delivery on the order confirmation.
- Contact Guest Experience to arrange an eligible return; report White Glove/Doorstep damage within 3 business days.
- Confirm transport and costs, preserve required packaging and parts, and retain the case reference.
What is Ashley Furniture’s return policy?
Ashley’s answer depends on where you bought the item and how it was delivered. Online Standard Shipping items have a 30-day return window from delivery. Online White Glove and Doorstep Delivery items cannot be returned simply because you changed your mind; damage or defects must be reported within three business days.
A purchase made through a physical Ashley store follows that store’s own terms. This includes both independently operated locations and stores operated by Ashley Global Retail or its subsidiaries. The website’s 30-day paragraph is not a nationwide store-purchase guarantee.
Before moving a chair or paying to ship a parcel, find the order confirmation and delivery method. A lamp shipped in a small box and a sofa delivered to your room do not automatically have the same options. The table below separates those routes so you can identify the rule that applies before arranging the return.
| Purchase or question | Rule | What matters |
|---|---|---|
| Online Standard Shipping | 30 days from delivery | New/unused, complete, original packaging |
| Online White Glove/Doorstep | Report damage/defects within 3 business days | No ordinary change-of-mind return |
| Physical-store purchase | The selling store’s terms | Contact the original store |
| Mattress or foundation | Manufacturer warranty, if any | Use the number on the order confirmation |
| Online return destination | Arrange with Guest Experience | Not returnable in stores |
| White Glove/Doorstep cancellation | 48-hour delivery-fee distinction | Call before the scheduled delivery |
Can you return furniture just because you do not like it?
For an online White Glove or Doorstep Delivery order, non-damaged, non-defective items are not returnable. The policy does not provide a general at-home decorating trial for those deliveries.
That makes the decision before delivery particularly important. Check the measurements, the route through the home, the colour and the configuration while cancellation might still be possible. A sofa looking different against your own walls is not automatically treated as a defect.
An online Standard Shipping item has a different route: eligible merchandise can be returned within 30 days of delivery, subject to condition, packaging and product exclusions. A store purchase depends on the terms supplied by that store.
If the furniture actually arrived damaged, describe the damage directly and promptly. Do not let a representative record a manufacturing problem as a simple preference change; those are different issues with different handling under the online policy.
How do you identify Standard Shipping versus furniture delivery?
Read the delivery method on the order confirmation. Ashley separates Standard Shipping from White Glove and Doorstep Delivery in its online return policy. The distinction is more reliable than judging only by the item’s price or the fact it is furniture.
For illustration, a boxed accessory sent through Standard Shipping can fall within the 30-day route. A larger piece delivered through Doorstep Delivery is subject to the restrictive furniture-delivery rule instead. Do not assume that leaving it at the doorstep gives you the same options as a small parcel.
If the confirmation is unclear, call Customer Care with the order number before authorising a return shipment. Ask the team to name the delivery category and the applicable return provision.
For several products on one order, check each item. Different fulfilment methods can mean that the return plan for the first box does not answer the question for the rest of the purchase.
What is the 30-day return rule for Standard Shipping?
Eligible online Standard Shipping items can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Contact Guest Experience to arrange the return or report delivery damage. Ashley requires the original condition, accessories and parts, and its full-refund requirements call for new, unused merchandise in original packaging.
Return shipping or pickup fees may apply. Original shipping, delivery and handling are nonrefundable for an ordinary preference return; the policy makes a separate exception for damaged or defective merchandise.
Keep the packing materials while checking the purchase. A large return carton can be difficult to replace, and the condition requirement still applies even when plenty of time remains.
A manufacturing defect discovered after the 30-day period is directed to the manufacturer’s warranty, if one applies. The retail-return window and a warranty are different routes, so identify whether you are returning an unwanted new item or asking about a later product fault.
How quickly must you report damaged White Glove or Doorstep items?
Contact Guest Experience within three business days of delivery if an online White Glove or Doorstep item is damaged or defective. Ashley says it will work with you to repair or replace the affected item.
Inspect the purchase on delivery or pickup. Look at the visible surfaces, the relevant components and whether the delivered product matches the order. As practical preparation, record photographs of an issue while the arrival condition is easy to show.
Describe what happened, which piece is affected and the delivery date. If a set contains several cartons, identify the item and component rather than describing the whole order as “broken furniture.”
The three-business-day provision is not a three-day change-of-mind trial or a promise of an immediate cash refund. It is the reporting route for damage and defects. Problems discovered later are directed to the manufacturer’s warranty, if any, under the published policy.
Can you take an Ashley.com purchase back to an Ashley store?
No. Ashley’s online return policy says online items may not be returned in stores. Arrange the online return through Guest Experience instead of loading the purchase into a car and arriving at a nearby showroom.
This is especially important because a store can be separately operated. Sharing the Ashley name does not mean that the store handles the website’s returns or refunds.
For an online Standard Shipping item, call to obtain the correct instructions and confirm any shipping or pickup expense. For an online White Glove or Doorstep delivery, explain a damage or defect issue within the required period.
If you bought through a store associate, identify the actual seller on the receipt before classifying it as a website purchase. An order arriving later at your home is not necessarily an Ashley.com transaction. The purchase records, rather than the delivery address alone, tell you which customer-service route to use.
What happens if you bought at a physical Ashley store?
Use the return and exchange terms given by the store where you purchased. Ashley expressly says stores set their own policies, including independently operated stores and locations owned by Ashley Global Retail or subsidiaries.
Read the sales receipt and any terms on its reverse. Look for the return period, cancellation conditions, delivery charges, exclusions and any store-specific fee. If something is unclear, contact that same location; the phone number is on the receipt or in the official store locator.
Do not apply a fee or deadline from an unrelated Ashley location to your order. A social post describing one store’s cancellation charge does not establish a nationwide rate.
For a large purchase, keep a copy of any written arrangement made with the store. If an associate approves a particular exchange or collection, ask how it will be recorded against the sales order so a later follow-up reaches the agreement you actually made.
Do you need the original box, parts and accessories?
Yes, for the full refund described in the online policy. Ashley requires new, unused condition, all accessories and parts, and secure packing in the original packaging. There is an exception when packaging was removed as part of White Glove Delivery.
Keep hardware packets, cables, instructions and other included pieces with the item while deciding what to do. The return team should be able to identify a complete purchase rather than receive a loose component with no explanation.
If the delivery crew took the packaging away, tell Guest Experience that it happened during White Glove service. Do not assume you must recreate a factory carton that the service itself removed.
For missing or damaged parts on arrival, report the specific issue before treating the purchase as an ordinary complete-item return. It helps the team decide how to handle the problem without you paying to move more merchandise than the approved arrangement requires.
Are clearance, Final Sale and special orders returnable?
Ashley excludes Final-Sale and Clearance items, Special Orders, and monogrammed or personalised items from ordinary returns. There is a stated exception for items delivered damaged or defective when reported within three business days after delivery.
The designation on the actual order matters. A discount by itself does not tell you whether the product is labelled Clearance or Final Sale. Check the listing and confirmation before assuming a reduced price comes with the usual Standard Shipping option.
For a personalised purchase, review the spelling and selected details before ordering. Changing your preference after delivery is different from receiving a defective product.
If an excluded item arrives damaged, make that clear when contacting the team and refer to the delivery date. The damage exception gives you a route to report the issue; it does not turn every excluded product into a general returnable purchase or guarantee a particular remedy before assessment.
Can you return an Ashley mattress or foundation?
The online policy says mattress and foundation returns are controlled by the manufacturer’s warranty, if any. It directs questions to the phone number on the emailed order confirmation.
Do not assume every mattress sold under the Ashley name has one common comfort trial. The published general return page does not offer a universal number of nights during which any mattress can be returned because it feels too firm or soft.
Find the mattress brand, model and seller, then check the actual order and warranty documents. If a trial or other benefit was part of your purchase, ask the seller to identify those specific terms rather than relying on another product’s promotion.
For a manufacturing problem, describe the defect and the age of the item when seeking assistance. For a store purchase, begin with that store’s paperwork as well. A separate manufacturer or seller programme needs its own eligibility assessment, not an assumption based on the Standard Shipping paragraph.
Does Ashley charge a restocking fee or return delivery fee?
The online policy says return shipping or pickup fees may apply, but it does not give one universal restocking percentage. Store purchases can have different terms, so check the rate or charge in your own sales agreement.
Ask for an itemised explanation before arranging the movement of furniture. Original delivery, return collection and any store-specific cancellation charge are separate amounts. Calling them all “restocking” can obscure what you are actually paying.
For illustration, if an approved ordinary return involves $75 of return transport and the original $100 delivery charge is nonrefundable, the total transport expense is $175. Those figures are an example, not Ashley’s published rates.
A damaged or defective return has different treatment for original shipping, delivery and handling. Explain the reason accurately before agreeing to an ordinary preference-return charge, and keep the confirmation showing the approved method and any costs.
Can you cancel an online Ashley order before delivery?
Call Customer Care at 866-436-3393 as soon as possible. Fulfilment begins when the order is placed, and the team must check whether it can still revise or cancel the purchase.
For White Glove or Doorstep Delivery, Ashley’s FAQ says a cancellation request at least 48 hours before the scheduled delivery time receives the purchase amount including delivery fees. Contacting it less than 48 hours before delivery means the order amount is refunded less delivery fees, under that explanation.
For Standard Shipping, support checks the order’s position. If it has already shipped, an eligible return follows the return policy instead.
Do not simply wait for the truck and assume refusing an unwanted piece creates a free cancellation. Obtain confirmation of the request, the fulfilment stage and any delivery-charge consequence while the team can explain the actual options. A store purchase needs the store’s own cancellation terms.
How are Ashley refunds paid, and how long do they take?
Approved online refunds use the original payment method. Ashley inspects returned merchandise on receipt and asks customers to allow seven to ten days after it receives the return for a credit or refund to appear on the card statement.
That period does not start on the day you phone or drop off the parcel. Transport, receipt and inspection are earlier stages. Keep the carrier confirmation and the return reference so you can identify where the delay is occurring.
An ordinary refund covers the returned merchandise value, with original shipping, delivery and handling excluded. The policy makes an exception to those charge exclusions for damaged or defective merchandise.
If the purchase used financing or another payment arrangement, ask how the approved refund will be applied to that transaction. A return request alone should not be mistaken for confirmation that a payment balance has already changed. Use the refund record and the payment provider’s account information for that follow-up.
What if furniture develops a problem after the return period?
Check the applicable manufacturer’s warranty. Ashley directs later Standard Shipping manufacturing defects to that route after 30 days, and later White Glove or Doorstep defects to it after the three-business-day reporting period.
A warranty is not the same as an unrestricted refund. Coverage, exclusions, evidence and the available repair or replacement depend on the actual product and warranty. Locate those documents before assuming every problem produces a new piece of furniture.
Keep the order confirmation, model information and a description of the issue together. If a separate protection plan was purchased, identify that programme when asking for help; its claim process is separate from returning unwanted merchandise.
For a store purchase, the store can explain the appropriate contact using the paperwork it supplied. Start with the seller and the actual defect, rather than using the website’s Standard Shipping deadline as a blanket answer to every later service concern.
How should you prepare before contacting Ashley about a return?
Have the seller, delivery method and delivery date ready first. Those three details determine which part of the policy is relevant. Then add the order number and the specific product or component involved.
For a return you simply want to make, explain whether the item is unused and whether the original packaging and accessories remain. For a damaged delivery, identify the issue and when you reported it. Clear photographs are practical supporting records, especially for a fault that is difficult to describe by phone.
A useful question is: “This was an online Standard Shipping purchase delivered ten days ago; what return method and cost apply?” For a sofa, identify White Glove or Doorstep service immediately instead.
Before ending the conversation, confirm who arranges transport, what needs packing, the approved charge and the next step. Record the reference so another representative can find the same arrangement if a later question comes up.
Who should you contact for Ashley return help?
For online orders, Ashley publishes Customer Care at 1-866-436-3393. Its Ask Ashley page provides help links, order tracking, cancellation assistance and warranty-related resources.
For a store purchase, call the location where you bought the item using the receipt or official store locator. For a mattress or foundation bought online, the return page specifically directs inquiries to the number on the emailed order confirmation.
Keep those routes distinct. A nearby showroom, the website’s team and a protection-plan administrator may each handle different parts of the relationship.
If a return is refused, ask which purchase term or delivery category explains the decision. That gives you something concrete to review against your order, rather than a broad claim that “Ashley has no returns” or “everything has 30 days.” Both oversimplifications can hide the option that actually applies to your purchase.
