Ann Taylor Return Policy: Shipment Dates, Store Returns and the $9.95 Mail Fee

For online orders, count from shipment—not delivery. Regular stores, Factory purchases and international orders have separate return routes.

By October 20, 2026

The short answer

Ann Taylor’s domestic online policy gives an original-payment refund for eligible returns with proof received within 30 days of shipment. Store purchases count 30 days from purchase. Later eligible domestic returns receive current-selling-price merchandise credit or an in-store exchange. Prepaid mail labels deduct $9.95. Final-sale items cannot be returned, exchanged or price-adjusted.

How to start a return

In a store

  1. Identify the purchase channel: regular Ann Taylor store purchases go to regular stores, and Factory purchases go to Factory stores. Confirm exceptions for maternity or swimwear before visiting.
  2. Bring the eligible merchandise and original receipt, order email or eReceipt. If using the online Visit A Store flow, show the emailed return-slip QR code.
  3. Ask the associate to confirm the refund or merchandise-credit result and keep the completed return receipt.

Online or by mail

  1. Use the official Ann Taylor return link for the order, select the eligible merchandise and generate the invoice and return label.
  2. Pack the items in original condition with the printed invoice. Cover previous tracking labels and use the carrier specified on the new label.
  3. Retain proof of acceptance and tracking. The prepaid label deducts $9.95, and the original-payment deadline requires receipt within 30 days of shipment.

01 / THE DETAILS

What is Ann Taylor’s return policy and when does the 30-day clock start?

For an eligible online purchase, Ann Taylor’s dedicated Returns And Exchanges policy gives an original-payment refund for the price paid when the return, with proof of purchase, is received within 30 days of shipment. It does not start a fresh 30 days when the parcel reaches your home. A store purchase follows a separate rule: 30 days from the purchase date on the original receipt.

That distinction can shorten the time you have to decide about a shipped order. Compare the shipment email with the return instructions before counting the days. If you mail the item, leave time for it to arrive: the policy uses receipt within the window, rather than promising that printing a label on the last day preserves a card refund.

The timing rule still depends on the merchandise being eligible. Final-sale items cannot be returned, exchanged or price-adjusted. Keep your proof of purchase and inspect the order promptly, especially if it is a gift.

02 / THE DETAILS

Can you return Ann Taylor merchandise after 30 days?

The domestic policy describes a later-return route, but the financial result changes. An eligible return with proof of purchase made more than 30 days after shipment is credited at the item’s current selling price, as merchandise credit or an in-store exchange. The store policy likewise switches receipted returns after 30 days from purchase to current-price credit or exchange.

This is different from recovering the amount you originally paid. As an illustration, a garment bought for $90 that now sells for $50 can produce current-price credit rather than a $90 card refund. Those figures illustrate the rule; they are not a promised valuation for a particular item.

The late-return wording does not make final-sale merchandise eligible. It also does not establish an unlimited, unconditional return guarantee or extend the separate international deadline. If you are already late, have the store or client services confirm the item’s status before paying return postage.

03 / THE DETAILS

Can you return worn, washed or defective Ann Taylor clothing?

Ann Taylor’s ordinary policy covers unworn and unwashed merchandise and separately includes defective merchandise. Treat a normal fit decision differently from a product problem. Try on a garment carefully while deciding, and avoid wearing it out or laundering it before attempting an ordinary preference return.

If the item has a defect, describe that defect when requesting help rather than presenting it as an unused change-of-mind return. Keep the purchase record and take useful photographs before repairing or altering anything. A defective-product provision is not a blanket promise that damage caused after purchase or ordinary wear will receive a refund.

The store and online routes also have product exceptions. The Top Questions summary singles out maternity and swimwear for store-return restrictions. For those collections, confirm the correct route with client services before traveling, even if another ordinary garment can go to a regular Ann Taylor store.

04 / THE DETAILS

Can you return or exchange Ann Taylor final-sale merchandise?

No. Ann Taylor says merchandise marked final sale online or in a store is sold as is and is not eligible for a return, exchange or price adjustment. Check the item’s actual description and purchase record; an exchange for another size is still an exchange, so it does not avoid the restriction.

There is an additional risk when you have no proof of purchase. If the merchandise’s selling price on the return date is deemed final sale, Ann Taylor says it cannot be returned or exchanged through that receiptless route. Saving the original receipt can therefore matter for more than proving what you paid.

If you believe the retailer sent the wrong product or there is a defect, contact client services and explain the problem before mailing it. Do not assume an ordinary portal label overrides a final-sale notice.

05 / THE DETAILS

Can you return an Ann Taylor online order to a store?

The dedicated Returns And Exchanges tab permits eligible merchandise at regular Ann Taylor locations, subject to its item exceptions. Its mail-return alternative can be useful when a store is inconvenient, but online purchases cannot be returned to LOFT, LOFT Outlet or Ann Taylor Factory stores under that dedicated policy.

Bring the order email or other purchase proof with the merchandise. Ann Taylor explains that an order may arrive without a paper packing slip and that the order email can serve as the receipt. Its online return guide also offers a Visit A Store option: select the items, obtain the emailed return slip, and show the QR code to the associate on your phone or on paper.

Check with client services first for maternity or swimwear. Ann Taylor’s general FAQ has conflicting store-location wording, while the dedicated return tab and the packing-slip instructions describe regular-store returns. A quick confirmation is worthwhile if your item or location is uncertain.

06 / THE DETAILS

Where do Ann Taylor store and Factory purchases have to be returned?

An item purchased at an Ann Taylor store must be returned to an Ann Taylor store. An Ann Taylor Factory purchase must go to an Ann Taylor Factory store. The shared brand name does not make their counters interchangeable, and the store-return instructions do not authorize mailing an ordinary store purchase to the online warehouse.

For a store purchase accompanied by the valid original receipt, the normal original-payment refund or exchange period is 30 days from purchase. Later eligible returns receive current-selling-price merchandise credit or an exchange instead. Gift and exchange receipts have their own credit treatment.

Check the seller and location on the receipt before choosing where to go. Keep the completed return receipt afterward: it establishes whether the associate issued a payment refund, an exchange or a merchandise credit, which makes a later follow-up much easier.

07 / THE DETAILS

How do you start an Ann Taylor return by mail?

Begin through the return link on Ann Taylor’s official customer-service page. Select the merchandise, complete the return request, print the return label and invoice, and pack the items in their original condition with the printed invoice inside. Attach the new label so old tracking labels are not visible.

Use the carrier specified on the label. The dedicated mail instructions describe UPS and USPS drop-off routes; the Top Questions guide describes UPS. Your actual issued label determines which carrier should receive that parcel. Do not hand a USPS-labeled box to an unrelated carrier because an older instruction mentioned a different service.

Keep the return confirmation and carrier acceptance receipt until the credit is complete. The retailer sends an email when the return is completed. A portal request or first tracking scan is useful evidence, but neither proves that the warehouse received the item or finished the refund.

08 / THE DETAILS

Are Ann Taylor mail returns free?

The prepaid return label carries a $9.95 deduction from the return credit under the verified live mail instructions. Prepaid means the label is supplied through the return process; it does not mean the return shipping is free.

For illustration, if an otherwise approved item refund were $60 before the label charge, subtracting $9.95 would leave $50.05. The actual credit still depends on the paid price, applicable policy and whether the item qualifies for an original-payment refund or merchandise credit. Do not use that illustration as a quote for a gift or late return.

An eligible store return avoids using the prepaid mail label. If you prefer shipping, compare the stated deduction with the cost of your own trackable service. For an incorrect or defective delivery, ask client services which process applies before purchasing a routine return label.

09 / THE DETAILS

Can you ship an Ann Taylor return using your own postage?

Yes. The official instructions allow a self-paid carrier after completing the return steps and printing the return invoice. Pack the merchandise in its original condition with that invoice. The listed destination is Ann Taylor Online Store, 1901 East State Road 240, Greencastle, IN 46135. Confirm the address in the current instructions before sending.

You pay that carrier at shipment rather than using Ann Taylor’s prepaid label. Keep tracking and proof of acceptance so the shipment can be traced and connected to the order. The retailer warns that returning on your own without first using its online return link can cause an extremely delayed refund.

This option does not bypass eligibility, the shipment-based refund deadline or final-sale restrictions. It is also not an instruction to send Factory purchases or international orders to that domestic online address without following their separate rules.

10 / THE DETAILS

What if Ann Taylor’s return portal cannot find your order?

First compare the email address and order number with the original order confirmation. Enter them exactly as shown, and make sure you are using the site where the order was placed rather than a sister brand’s return page.

The dedicated mail section also tells customers to wait 24 hours after the entire order has been delivered before starting the return process. This matters when an order arrives in several parcels: an early package can be in your hands while fulfillment of the full order is not yet complete.

That troubleshooting wait does not announce a new delivery-based refund window. If the shipment-based deadline is close, contact client services with the order number and shipment and delivery dates instead of repeatedly trying an unrelated return form. Keep the support reference and the return authorization once the order is located.

11 / THE DETAILS

How will Ann Taylor refund your return, and how long does it take?

For an eligible return with proof received inside the original-payment window, Ann Taylor credits the price paid in the original form of payment. A later domestic return or a return without proof can instead become current-price merchandise credit. Online merchandise credit arrives by email as an E-Gift Certificate; a store-issued merchandise credit is redeemable only in stores.

The mail page says the credit is processed after the package is received and that an email is sent when the return is complete. The reviewed instructions do not give a universal number of days for warehouse processing or bank posting. Do not substitute a fixed timeline from another retailer.

If the refund is missing, first check tracking for warehouse delivery and look for the completion email. Then contact client services with the order, tracking and expected credit type. An emailed certificate and a bank-card credit are different outcomes, so check which one the transaction should produce.

12 / THE DETAILS

Can you return Ann Taylor merchandise without a receipt?

The domestic policy describes returns without proof at the item’s current selling price, issued as merchandise credit. Its store practice also allows a current-price exchange. This does not promise recovery of your original purchase price or a cash refund.

An item deemed final sale at its selling price on the return date cannot be returned or exchanged without proof. Before relying on receiptless treatment, search for the order confirmation, an electronic receipt or the gift receipt. An online order’s email is accepted as receipt evidence even when no paper invoice came in the box.

For a store merchandise credit, bring valid photo identification: the store practice requires it both to receive and to redeem that credit. Ask the associate to explain the current value before agreeing to the transaction, particularly if the item has since been marked down.

13 / THE DETAILS

How do Ann Taylor gift returns work?

An online gift return received within 30 days of shipment produces an Online E-Gift Certificate for the amount the sender paid. It is not a promise of cash to the recipient or a refund onto the recipient’s payment card. Provide an email address you can access and keep the return confirmation until the certificate arrives.

At a store, a valid gift receipt or exchange receipt presented within 30 days of the transaction supports credit for the receipt amount or an exchange. After that period, the store practice switches to the current selling price. Store merchandise credits can only be redeemed in stores and require valid photo ID.

A gift receipt does not override final-sale status. Identify whether the gift originated online, at a regular store or at a Factory store before choosing the route, since those channels do not share every return option.

14 / THE DETAILS

Can you use an Ann Taylor eReceipt, and can a lost one be recovered?

Yes. Ann Taylor accepts an eReceipt for a return or exchange either printed or displayed on a phone or tablet. Save the original email somewhere accessible before visiting the store. For an online order without a paper packing slip, its order email can also serve as the receipt.

The eReceipt FAQ says eReceipts cannot currently be resent or looked up merely by providing an email address. Check your inbox and spam folder rather than assuming an associate can retrieve a deleted copy. If the proof is gone, the receiptless current-price merchandise-credit rule may apply instead, subject to final-sale restrictions.

The FAQ says eReceipts can document eligible purchase, return and exchange transactions, with payment-type exceptions. Do not confuse an emailed order-status message with the final receipt for a completed store refund; keep the record that actually shows the credit issued.

15 / THE DETAILS

Will Ann Taylor restore Rewards used on a returned order?

The current Rewards FAQ distinguishes a full return from a partial one. If an order was paid using one or more Reward Certificates and the full order is returned, Ann Taylor says a new Reward Certificate replaces the value redeemed.

If you return only some items, the Reward Certificate is forfeited: the reward amount is not refunded and the points are not restored. That can make the result of keeping one item different from returning the whole order. Before deciding, compare the paid merchandise amounts and the reward applied; a promotional reward is not the same as cash tender.

The cancellation FAQ describes a similar full-versus-partial distinction for canceled orders, but cancellation and return are separate events. Keep the order and return records when following up about a replacement certificate, and do not expect the store to hand you cash for the reward value.

16 / THE DETAILS

Can you exchange Ann Taylor clothing for another size or color?

The dedicated return policy offers merchandise exchanges in store only. Bring the eligible item and purchase evidence to the appropriate regular or Factory store. A preferred size or color still depends on what the store can provide; the return policy does not reserve inventory while you decide.

Inside the applicable receipted window, the exchange is based on the price paid. Later eligible domestic returns and receiptless transactions can use the current selling price instead. Gift and exchange receipts likewise have their own timing and credit rules, so tell the associate which document you have.

For an online purchase, do not put a note asking for another size inside a return parcel and assume the warehouse will ship a replacement. The dedicated policy limits that exchange option to the store route. Contact client services if a store visit is impractical or the product has a store-return exception.

17 / THE DETAILS

Can you get an Ann Taylor price adjustment instead of returning an item?

Ann Taylor permits one price adjustment for merchandise purchased at full price that receives its first markdown, requested within seven days of the original purchase. The store practice requires the valid original receipt.

Special promotions, including percentage-off and dollar-off offers, are excluded. A new coupon therefore is not automatically a qualifying first markdown. Final-sale merchandise is also ineligible for a price adjustment, and international orders have a separate exclusion.

For an online order, contact client services rather than asking a store to process the adjustment: the FAQ says stores cannot make price adjustments for online purchases. Keep the order confirmation and identify the item and price change. The seven-day adjustment rule is a price remedy, not a way to restart or extend the return window.

18 / THE DETAILS

Do international Ann Taylor orders use the same returns, and who can help?

No. The current international section uses ESW and requires an authorized mail return with the original receipt, received within 30 days of shipment. It says returns after that international deadline are not accepted. Internationally shipped ESW merchandise cannot be returned or exchanged at Ann Taylor, Factory, LOFT or LOFT Outlet locations in the United States or Canada.

The section directs customers to 614-534-2756 to begin the required Return Merchandise Authorization. International return fees are listed in US dollars: $25 for named destinations including Canada and the United Kingdom, and $35 for other listed destinations and the remaining-country category. Confirm the current destination-specific fee when obtaining authorization.

For ordinary US return questions, Ann Taylor’s live customer-service page lists 1-800-342-5266 and chat. Have the order or receipt number, relevant dates and return tracking ready. The international RMA number differs from the general international contact number, so use the instructions matching your transaction.
