Most eligible Temu items can be returned within 90 days of purchase; many electronics have seller-dependent 45-, 60- or 90-day windows. Required parcels must be postmarked within 14 days after the request. The first return shipment per order is free with exceptions; later labels cost $7.99 plus applicable tax. Refund-without-return, instant and advance refunds require Temu approval.
What is the Temu return policy in the United States?
Most eligible Temu items have a 90-day return window from purchase, with category and seller exceptions. Many electronics instead have 45, 60 or 90 days. You must also send a required return package within 14 days after submitting the request. Check the item’s actual deadline in the order rather than assuming every purchase has the same window.
Temu’s U.S. policy was marked updated September 17, 2026 when we checked it on October 12. It separates physical returns, refunds that do not require sending anything back, and payment credits. Those distinctions matter before you discard packaging or choose a refund method.
Start by identifying the product, seller, purchase date and reason. The table below covers common routes. A free first-return label does not make excluded merchandise returnable, and a fast credit does not always mean money has reached your bank.
| Situation | Key rule | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Most eligible products | 90 days from purchase | Check the actual order deadline |
| Many electronics | Seller-dependent 45, 60 or 90 days | Read product and order terms |
| First return shipment per order | Free with exceptions; pickup may cost extra | Review all eligible items together |
| Second or later label | $7.99 plus applicable tax | Check deduction before confirming |
| Required physical return | Postmark within 14 days of request | Retain handoff evidence |
| Refund without return | Only when the request explicitly approves it | Save the approval |
Does Temu’s return window start at purchase or delivery?
The ordinary 90-day window starts at purchase, not delivery. The stated electronics windows also use the purchase date. Time spent in shipping therefore does not automatically extend the period in which you can request a return.
Find the purchase date and item-specific deadline in Your Orders. Review delivered merchandise soon enough to solve sizing, missing-parts or damage issues before the window closes. If several items arrive separately, keep the records for each shipment together without assuming the latest delivery resets the order’s purchase clock.
The separate 14-day send-back requirement begins after you submit a return. Treat it as a fulfillment deadline, not a new 90-day period. Follow the dates shown for your approved request and ask support if they conflict; do not rely on an informal calculation when a seller-specific deadline is shorter.
Are Temu electronics returnable for 90 days?
Not universally. Most electronics have 45, 60 or 90 days from purchase, depending on the seller. Check the product details and the order’s displayed return information before treating a device as eligible. A general search result advertising 90 days is not enough to establish the deadline for that particular item.
Inspect the device, accessories and packaging when it arrives. If something is faulty, document the symptom and choose the truthful reason in the return request. Keep serial numbers and included parts with the order record.
Do not open or activate a device just to see how much use the return policy allows. Specific products can have stricter condition rules, including the iPhone instructions below. Before sending electronics, remove your personal information and use the shipping method approved for that item, especially where a battery affects handling.
How do you return an item on Temu?
Open Your Orders, find the correct purchase and choose Return/Refund. Select each affected item and the actual reason. Temu may ask for additional information or evidence depending on the problem. Review the available return and refund methods before submitting.
If a physical return is required, the request supplies a label or return code. If it explicitly says no return is needed, choose the refund method and complete the request without inventing a mailing step. Keep the confirmation so you can verify which route was approved.
Match similar products carefully, particularly if the order contains multiple colors or sizes. Include only the selected items in the return. Save the request details and relevant images before sealing the package; they help explain a later inspection or refund question.
Can you make a Temu return without an account or paper receipt?
Temu’s policy directs guest buyers to Save your Order in the order email so they can begin the return process. The relevant order record is the useful starting point; this is not a general no-proof return at a store counter.
Locate the original confirmation in your inbox and check that it matches the item you received. Use the official Temu website or app for help if the message or order access is missing. Do not disclose payment credentials to an unsolicited person offering to arrange a refund.
An account-access problem should be addressed promptly while the item’s window remains open. Ask support how to recover the order and save the reference number. A missing paper receipt does not create a separate deadline or excuse sending merchandise without a valid request and destination.
Is Temu return shipping free on every order?
The first return shipment of one or more eligible items from each order is free within the applicable window, with exceptions. Pickup can carry an additional charge. Oversized, overweight or remote-area returns can require you to pay postage initially and seek reimbursement after receipt and inspection.
Review all items from the same order before starting a parcel return. If two eligible products are unwanted, including both in the first approved return may avoid a later shipping deduction. Do not delay so long that the shorter deadline on an electronic item expires.
Check the method and cost displayed before submitting. Free outbound shipping or a promotional coupon is a different benefit from the first-return rule. When a special shipping arrangement is needed, obtain the instructions and reimbursement process before paying a carrier yourself.
What does a second Temu return from the same order cost?
For second and later returns from the same order using Temu’s label, the policy lists $7.99 plus applicable tax, deducted from the refund. Additional items must still be within their return window. The fee is tied to another return from that order, not a universal fee on your first return from every purchase.
For example, a hypothetical $80 merchandise refund after a second return becomes $72.01 before any tax on the $7.99 fee and other adjustments. That arithmetic illustrates the deduction; it does not establish eligibility or the amount your particular order will receive.
Check whether you have already used the first return before submitting another request. If you spot an additional problem while the first package is still being prepared, ask support about the correct way to update the return rather than silently adding an unlisted product.
How soon must you mail a Temu return after approval?
Temu says the return package must be postmarked within 14 days after submitting the request, or the process can be terminated. It also says items cannot be returned after their return window closes. Follow the displayed request dates and arrange the handoff promptly rather than treating the mailing period as a blanket extension.
A label sitting on your phone does not show that the parcel was sent. Keep the drop-off receipt or code confirmation as evidence of when you handed over the goods. Check the carrier and location specified for your selected method.
If a pickup fails or the designated drop-off cannot accept the parcel, contact support while there is time to resolve it. Save the response and arrange the authorized alternative. Do not ship to the outbound package address because the correct label is temporarily inconvenient.
Where is your Temu return label or return code?
In Your Orders, Temu identifies label access through All Orders and the return-label action, or through the Returns section. Depending on your approved method, you may print a label or bring the package and supplied code to the designated drop-off location.
Use the instructions attached to that request. A code for one service is not necessarily valid at every FedEx, USPS, UPS or Happy Returns location. Check the address, method and selected items before traveling.
For a printed label, tape it securely to the parcel without covering information needed for scanning. Remove old labels from a reused box. Keep the return confirmation and any carrier receipt. If the label is missing, reopen the request or ask support for help; do not substitute a label from an unrelated order simply because the package size is similar.
How should you pack a Temu return, and do barcodes matter?
Temu asks you to include the original barcode for each returned item. If it is missing, the policy instructs you to package each item separately in a transparent bag before placing it in the return parcel. These details help the warehouse identify the merchandise during inspection.
For a parcel return, use the approved label and include only the items selected in the request. Protect fragile goods and keep accessories together. Poor packing that causes damage, or missing parts not attributable to Temu or the seller, can reduce the refund.
Happy Returns has a different preparation rule: the policy says you do not need to pack items when that method is chosen. Follow the exact method assigned rather than turning a normal carrier parcel into an unboxed drop-off. Save a photograph of the contents before handoff.
Which Temu items cannot be returned?
Temu excludes worn, washed or post-delivery damaged clothing, garments with removed tags or hygiene stickers, groceries and food, and certain health, personal-care, customized, underwear and free-gift products. Sellers can identify other ineligible items subject to Temu’s policy, so review the product page.
The distinction between some and all matters: the policy does not say every personal-care product or every customized item has identical terms. Use the listing and order details for the product you bought rather than assuming the whole category is eligible.
Try clothing carefully while preserving tags and hygiene protections. If a product arrives damaged or incorrectly supplied, report that problem accurately rather than selecting a preference-return reason. An ordinary no-return exclusion and a request about faulty fulfillment are different issues, and support should tell you the appropriate resolution.
Can you get a refund for damaged Temu groceries or fresh food?
Groceries and food are not ordinarily returnable. The current policy adds a specific exception: an eligible fresh item arriving damaged or defective can be reported for a refund within 72 hours of delivery. That is much shorter than the ordinary purchase-based 90-day period.
Check the delivery promptly and photograph the product, packaging and identifying details if there is a problem. Stop consuming anything that appears unsafe. Use the order’s support route to report what arrived and when.
Do not mail food back without directions. Ask whether the resolution needs photographs or another form of evidence, and keep the request confirmation. A refund request for a damaged fresh item is not an open-ended opportunity to return unwanted groceries. Temu’s wording refers to eligible fresh items, so confirm the product’s eligibility through the order.
Does Temu give refunds without returning the item?
Sometimes, when Temu explicitly approves that route. During Return/Refund, the policy says you may be told that sending the product back is unnecessary. In that case, completing the selected refund method is the final step. It is not a benefit you can assume for every inexpensive or defective item.
Do not discard goods or packaging while a physical return is still required. The instruction attached to your actual request decides whether the warehouse needs the item. Keep that confirmation if support has waived the return.
Choose the reason truthfully and supply the requested evidence. Advice claiming a particular excuse always earns a keep-the-item refund is unreliable and can lead to an inaccurate request. If the approved outcome is unclear, ask support directly whether any send-back obligation remains before treating the case as finished.
Are Temu instant and advance refunds final?
Temu may offer an advance refund after carrier handoff or an instant refund before return, at its discretion and based on shopping history. Neither is a promise for every order. The policy allows charging the original payment method if required goods are not returned or fail inspection.
If you receive an early credit, still complete the return exactly as directed. Keep the handoff evidence, match the returned product to the order and include required parts. An early payment notification does not necessarily mean the item’s condition review is complete.
Check the refund type in the request so you know what obligations remain. If you cannot complete the return, contact support before the deadline. Treat the early refund as part of the approved process, rather than permission to keep a product the confirmation requires you to send back.
Can Temu reduce a refund after inspecting the return?
Yes. Temu says a refund can be reduced for use, damage, missing parts or accessories, or damage caused by inadequate return packaging when the loss is not Temu’s or the seller’s fault. The reduction compensates for the item’s lost value; the policy does not publish one universal percentage for all products.
Before packing, compare the selected item with the original order and collect included accessories. Document the condition and protect the merchandise appropriately. If it arrived faulty, preserve the evidence showing the problem existed before return shipping.
If the refund differs from the approved expectation, ask for the inspection reason and an explanation of the adjustment. Provide the original issue images, parcel photographs and tracking. Do not assume every reduction is a standard restocking fee, or every early refund rules out a later inspection adjustment.
What are Temu’s special iPhone return requirements?
The current policy says an iPhone should be returned new, unused and unactivated, with original accessories and packaging. It also requires the returned device’s serial number to match the order; a mismatch can lead to refusal. Personal information must be deleted before return.
Temu separately addresses phones arriving damaged or malfunctioning: when the fault is confirmed not to be caused by the user, it says a full refund is issued. Use, damage or missing parts not caused by Temu or the seller can affect the amount after inspection.
Record the original serial number and condition when receiving the phone, without publishing those identifiers in a public complaint. Preserve the box and accessories. If you discover a fault, ask for the correct return instructions and explain any necessary setup used to identify it rather than concealing activation or use.
Should you choose Temu credit or an original-payment refund?
Choose the original payment method if your priority is recovering money to that account. Temu credit is faster, does not expire, and can normally only be used for Temu purchases. The policy says processed credit refunds typically cannot be reversed and usually cannot be redeemed for cash.
That makes the choice meaningful. A quick $50 Temu balance and $50 returned to your card are different outcomes even if both are called a refund. Read the selected option before submitting and keep the confirmation.
For original-payment refunds, Temu lists five to fourteen business days for financial-institution posting, potentially up to thirty days. Separate that from warehouse inspection and refund issuance. If the original payment account cannot receive the refund, the policy says Temu will notify you by email and offer help with alternatives.
Are original shipping costs and other fees refunded by Temu?
Temu says original shipping and import tax are not refunded for a return unrelated to Temu’s or the seller’s fault. It also identifies insurance costs as nonrefundable and the signature-on-delivery fee as nonrefundable when delivery succeeded. Review the actual order breakdown rather than comparing only the product’s advertised price.
A merchandise refund can therefore be smaller than the entire checkout charge, even before a later-return label deduction. Identify which items were returned and which fees belonged to the whole order.
If the reason was incorrect fulfillment or another seller-related problem, describe it accurately and ask how the corresponding charges are handled. Do not select a faulty-item reason only to seek a different fee outcome. Keep the item approval, payment method and fee summary together so any discrepancy can be explained clearly.
What if a Temu item is missing or the delivered package never arrived?
Use the order-specific support route rather than starting a physical return for something you never received. Temu identifies missing item/parts and package marked delivered but not received as separate refund-request reasons. Provide the relevant order and explain what is missing.
Check package contents against the order and note whether there were separate shipments. Preserve packaging details for a missing-accessory report. For a delivery dispute, give accurate information about what you checked instead of claiming a returned parcel exists when none was sent.
The policy directs local-warehouse customers to Contact the seller in Return Details; other cases go to Temu customer service. Use these official routes and retain the reference. For a delayed refund, provide the return confirmation, tracking if applicable and payment choice so the team can identify the outstanding stage.
