THE RETURN GUIDE · Marketplace

StockX
return policy.

In the U.S., only purchases labeled “14 Day Return” when bought qualify for the ordinary return route—and the remedy is StockX Credit, not a cash refund.

September 29, 2026

The short answer

StockX allows U.S. customers to return eligible Verified Marketplace purchases within 14 days of delivery for StockX Credit. The exact product and size must have shown a “14 Day Return” label when purchased and in Buying History. Start from Profile > Buying > History, keep the item unused with its StockX tag or sticker attached, and ship it within seven days after starting the return. Wrong, damaged or materially different items use the Buyer Promise process instead.

01 / THE DETAILS

What is StockX's return window?

For U.S. customers, StockX's ordinary return policy gives 14 days from delivery, but only for an eligible Verified Marketplace purchase. The item must have displayed the “14 Day Return” label on its product page at the time of purchase and must still show that status in Buying History. Eligibility is specific to the precise product and size, so another colorway, size or a later purchase may not have the same option. Treat the label as part of the purchase terms, not as something that can be added after delivery. The ordinary return is for a change of mind on an eligible item; it produces StockX Credit rather than a refund to the original payment method. If the item is wrong, damaged or materially different, do not use the normal return route—use Buyer Promise instead. EU and UK residents may have separate statutory withdrawal rights, which this U.S.-focused guide does not replace.

02 / THE DETAILS

Does a StockX ordinary return refund your card?

No. An approved ordinary eligible 14-day return produces StockX Credit. A wrong, damaged or materially different item should use Buyer Promise instead; an approved Buyer Promise claim follows its separate original-payment refund route.

03 / THE DETAILS

Which StockX items are eligible for a return?

The ordinary 14-day return program applies to selected Verified Marketplace purchases, not every order on StockX. Before checking out, look for the “14 Day Return” indicator on the product page for the exact item and size. After buying, confirm it in Profile > Buying > History so you have a record before removing tags or wearing the item. StockX says Listings Marketplace and Live Marketplace purchases are not eligible for the ordinary 14-day return policy. A guest-checkout order may also lack the return feature, so creating or using an account is important when the policy option is offered. Do not infer eligibility from the item's resale value, authentication status, price movement, or the fact that another item has a return label. When an item is not eligible but remains unused, StockX's No Fee Resale option may let a buyer relist it without selling fees within 90 days of delivery; that is a resale, not a return or guaranteed recovery of the purchase price.

04 / THE DETAILS

Does StockX No Fee Resale guarantee recovery of your purchase price?

No. The cited option can allow an unused eligible item to be relisted without selling fees within 90 days of delivery. It is a resale, not a return, and does not guarantee a buyer or a particular selling price.

05 / THE DETAILS

How do you start a StockX return?

Sign in and open Profile > Buying > History. Select the eligible order to reach Order Details, then use Start Return and follow the on-screen instructions to create the return label. Start within the 14-day delivery window and ship the item within seven days after initiating the return. Keep the label, carrier drop-off receipt and tracking history. Use the label only for the package and order it was issued for; combining unrelated transactions can prevent StockX from matching the merchandise to the request. If Start Return is missing, first confirm whether the original product-and-size purchase had the return label. Do not choose a different support category merely to force an ordinary return. If a product is incorrect, damaged, or materially different from its description, file a Buyer Promise support request with photos rather than sending it under a change-of-mind authorization. The path chosen affects both the review and the remedy.

06 / THE DETAILS

What condition must a StockX return be in?

StockX requires an ordinary return to be unused and in the same condition in which it was delivered. If the item arrived with a StockX tag or sticker, it must remain attached. Handle sneakers, apparel, accessories and collectibles carefully while deciding: keep boxes, protective packaging, inserts and authentication materials together; try products only in a way that does not use or alter them; and avoid removing labels to test fit. A product can be eligible by date and still fail a returns verification if its condition has changed. That review is separate from the initial screen that lets you begin the return. Before sealing the parcel, photograph the item, its tags or sticker, and the packaging. If StockX determines a normal return does not pass verification, its policy says you may be asked to confirm payment information and cover the cost of return shipping to have the item sent back. An ordinary return should not be used to report a pre-existing defect; that belongs in a Buyer Promise claim.

07 / THE DETAILS

Does StockX refund the original payment method?

For the ordinary U.S. 14-day return policy, StockX issues StockX Credit in U.S. dollars rather than refunding the original payment method. That is a material difference from a store return: the credit stays within StockX and should not be budgeted as a card refund. Confirm that you are comfortable with that remedy before starting a normal return. The credit rules apply to eligible U.S. ordinary returns; they do not describe the remedy for an approved Buyer Promise claim. If StockX approves a Buyer Promise claim for an item that is wrong, damaged, or materially different from its description, its current Buyer Promise guidance says the original payment method is refunded after the applicable return is processed. Keep return emails and the original payment record so you can see which route StockX applied. If an order used a promotion, credit or another special payment arrangement, read the order details and official support response before expecting any particular balance treatment.

08 / THE DETAILS

What is the StockX Buyer Promise?

The Buyer Promise is the issue-resolution path for an item that is materially different from its listing. StockX gives examples such as a damaged item, wrong item, wrong size or materially different condition. For Verified Marketplace and Listings Marketplace orders where verification was purchased, submit a Buyer Promise support request within 14 days of delivery. StockX may review the details and, when eligible, issue a prepaid label to send the item to its facility. Its guidance asks buyers to keep the item unworn and in delivered condition, including any StockX tag. Describe the actual defect or mismatch, add clear photos, and keep the outer carton and label if shipping may be relevant. Do not accept the order as problem-free or remove identifying materials while you are deciding whether to make a claim. A Buyer Promise claim is not a fit or preference return; it is for a verifiable mismatch with what was promised.

09 / THE DETAILS

How do Listings Marketplace and StockX Live order issues work?

Listings Marketplace and StockX Live orders are not eligible for the ordinary 14-day return policy. For orders purchased without verification, StockX directs buyers to contact the seller through Direct Message and explain the problem. The seller may open a return, reject it, or offer a partial refund. If a seller opens a Buyer Promise return, the order details should provide the prepaid label and the buyer must ship within the stated window. If the seller rejects the request and you believe the decision is incorrect, escalate to StockX customer service; StockX says it can review the listing, live video recording and message history. Keep all communication inside the platform. A direct payment, off-platform agreement or privately purchased shipping label may undermine the evidence StockX needs to review the order. For an item that was simply not to your taste, consider relisting instead of filing a mismatch claim.

10 / THE DETAILS

What if a StockX unverified-marketplace seller rejects your return request?

If you believe that decision is wrong, escalate through StockX customer service. Keep communication inside the platform so it can review the listing, live video and message history. Do not privately ship the item without an authorized return.

11 / THE DETAILS

Are there fees or another verification check for StockX returns?

A normal return is subject to StockX's return review and verification. The company says a flagged return may be denied, and an item that does not pass returns verification can require the buyer to pay return shipping to get it back. That is why preserving the original condition and using the correct issued label is essential. The public return article does not present the ordinary process as a cash restocking-fee program; the important financial consequence is that an approved ordinary return becomes StockX Credit, while a rejected one can generate shipping costs. Do not assume the original seller handles the return—the verified-marketplace process is handled by StockX and does not reverse the seller's original sale. If your concern is a wrong, damaged or materially misdescribed product, use Buyer Promise instead, which says approved claims receive a prepaid label and an original-payment refund. Keep each claim or return's confirmation, label and tracking number through final resolution.

12 / THE DETAILS

Can failing StockX return verification create another shipping cost?

Yes. A denied return that fails verification can require you to pay shipping to get the item back. Preserve its original condition and use the correct issued label; delivery to the facility is not itself approval.

13 / THE DETAILS

How long does a StockX return take?

StockX's published ordinary-return guidance says the item must be shipped within seven days after you initiate the return. Delivery to its facility comes before review. Once it arrives, StockX says processing takes a minimum of three working days; it also notes that reaching a verification expert typically takes one to two days. Those are not guarantees for every item, so keep tracking and check Order Details rather than treating a carrier delivery scan as the final decision. An approved ordinary return produces StockX Credit. An approved Buyer Promise claim follows its own route and says to allow at least three to five business days after the item reaches the facility for processing. Start early, because waiting until day 14 to open an ordinary return leaves little room to solve an account or label problem. If the order is still moving, record its status without cancelling a valid request.

14 / THE DETAILS

Does a carrier delivery scan mean a StockX return is approved?

No. StockX reviews the item after arrival. The cited ordinary process takes a minimum of three working days to process and notes that reaching a verification expert typically takes one to two days. Follow Order Details for the actual decision.

15 / THE DETAILS

How do you contact StockX about a return?

StockX's Help Center directs customers to its Contact Us tool, which can offer live chat, phone or email depending on the issue and region. The U.S. Help Center currently posts live-chat hours of Monday through Friday, 9 AM–9 PM Eastern Time, and Saturday through Sunday, 10 AM–6 PM Eastern Time. It also lists phone availability Monday through Friday, 9 AM–5 PM Eastern Time, and says email requests can be submitted 24/7. StockX does not publish a general support phone number or email address on the official contact pages we checked, so this guide deliberately links to the verified contact channel instead of copying unverified directory listings. Log in before contacting support when possible, then have the order number, order type, delivery date, photos, label or tracking number ready. Use the Buyer Promise route for a mismatch and the Start Return route for a qualifying preference return.
